What is itinerary of our Trek: Lares – Machu Picchu?
Day 01: Cusco – Lares – Wacahuasi
We leave Cusco Quite early with a northbound through spectacular ravines and making our way to the community of Lares Understanding the province of Calca, located on the east flank of the Andes mountains.
We take the opportunity to enjoy the hot springs of the place and taste our snack.
In the afternoon we will go uphill to reach the Trapiche River Valley and camp in the Andean town of Wacahuasi located at 3,600 m.a.s.l.; The same one that is a typical Andean community located in the wonderful Valle de Lares. The houses of the place were built using ancient Inca techniques that can still be observed now in remote communities of Cusco.
Day 02: Wacahuasi – Patacancha
After the comfortable breakfast we will restart our ascent through beautiful fields adorned by Andean flowers where we will see alpacas and llamas that graze peacefully in their natural habitat. The trail reaches 4,500 m.a.s.l. at the point called: step of ipsayccasa; He himself who offers us spectacular views of the Nevado Veronica at 5,750m high and surrounding snowy snow. Then we will descend to Ipsaycocha or Laguna Ipsay, where we can see Andean geese, the Ibis de la Puna and other birds of the area; As we also enter the heart of the “Quechua” world where we will locate the “huayruros” that are seeds of the Peruvian jungle with quite shiny red and black colors; that these are precisely the distinctive colors of the “Quechua” clothing of the inhabitants of the area. We arrive at the community of Patacancha, known for its fine Andean fabrics, a place that will serve as a camp very close to the community with a magical environment.
Day 03: Patacancha Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast we restart our hike to Ollantaytambo; The attractiveness of this short section is Pumamarca; Inca archaeological site that is well preserved that in the past had to fulfill the function of a control strong that protects access to the Lares Valley as jungle areas. Then we will descend through colorful Inca terraces that currently partially restored serve the agriculture of the population. Already in Ollantaytambo after lunch we will visit the fortress of the place, as well as the picturesque town that together is known as the second place in transcendence that with its cobblestone streets and houses erected on Inca walls support what has been said.
At night we will take the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes.
Day 04: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Then we will take our return train to the city of Cusco.
