The complex of Choquequirao is composed of nine sectors in which stand out the political/religious center, the system with water fountains and channels with aqueducts, and the group of doorways.
From an air view or a certain distance, it is easy to distinguish the typical Inka terraces that form the biggest constructions of Choquequirao. One temple, some administrative buildings and rooms for the administrators and main advisors that were situated around the main square.
Towards the outside of the citadel center stand out the rooms used by the rest of the population that are grouped forming a little village. In Choquequirao there are many irrigation channels and aqueducts for the supplying of drinkable water. Inspite of the weather and the climatic inclemencies, most of buildings of the “sacred sister” of Machu Picchu are well preserved and its restoration will last, according to some experts that are in charge, several more years.
